A Matter of the Heart

What I love about my company is what it has given me.

Born to an entrepreneurial father and a fearless mother, the desire to constantly be productive was well-established in the genes, fed to me daily by example, and reinforced with each effort that I made.

Those who know me are aware of the numerous “great ideas” that I have thrown out there and have given a little run. Some worked for a while, many did not. But it was watching a Master Chef cooking show the other night when the penny dropped. I realized that the ongoing survivors in the competition were the ones who not only had the skills and the drive but ones that tapped into their inner person for inspiration.

What makes Lolili different than any of my other start-ups? I found the heart. So, I made a checklist of what I love about this company, Lolili.

  • My product is my art, my passion

  • People wear my art and tell me they feel beautiful doing so.

  • I am fulfilling my destiny as an entrepreneur, thinking often of my Dad as I move forward.

  • I am not afraid to try something new, tapping into Mom’s unstoppable spirit.

  • It uses all my skills and demands more of me with each new turn.

  • I love its playful name. I named it after my two daughters who inspire me every day. It has meaning.

  • I can work from the comfort of my home, on my own schedule, and use all of my own skills.

  • I am supported by a small community of fine boutiques that ask to carry my product.

  • I have a partner, family and friends who ride this crazy wave with me with never-ending love, support, and enthusiastic cheer-leading.

COVID 19 has just been another hurdle to overcome among the many. I have had to be patient and compassionate with production and shipping from virus torn Italy, delays in packaging and shipping, a dip in the economy due to fear, boutiques with closed doors and, as always, the great unknown. But in all of this, I have been able to remain open for business, work quietly in the wings, create a new line, re-establish connection with my suppliers, and regain my confidence for a busy autumn ahead. The summer will be our healing time. Time to regroup and take stock.

Thanks to all of you for your business and your support.

Be wise, stay safe, and always remain hopeful.
