The Falkland Islands, situated 480 km Northeast of the southern tip of South America, is a land of rugged hills and peat covered valleys. The chilly damp climate supports peat growth and a variety of beautiful grasses, lichen, and cushion plants. In this fine art photography, the cushion grass is the star of the show.
Although they appear delicate, cushion plants are found on very exposed coasts and mountain tops and can live hundreds of years. This image was selected as a celebration of the beauty of nature in spite of adversity.

Things to do on the Falklands:
Wild and rugged, the isolated Falkland Islands have a unique character and a surprising number of things to do:
· One of the main reasons to visit is the outstanding wildlife viewing opportunities. Home to five species of penguin and large numbers of seals, albatross and whales. Take a 4x4 drive from Stanly to visit the world's largest accessible king penguin colony.
· Go to Volunteer Point or see gentoo and Magellanic penguin, elephant seals and dolphins on picturesque Carcass Island.
· A trip to Pebble Island reveals a more poignant side to the islands and provides an insight into the 1982 military conflict, including a memorial to those who died aboard HMS Coventry.
· Explore the Falkland Islands Museum, visit the Christ Church Cathedral, and see the Whalebone Arch
