Lolili customers have been actively building their collection of fine art scarves with various designs and colours to complement their eclectic wardrobes. As a result, many have asked me about the best way to store them. So, I have created a series of blog posts that will cover and demonstrate the following:

Be Kind to Your Scarves - 3 tips you should know before storing your scarves

1.    Freshen or clean.

Your Lolili scarves are made of a fine cashmere/modal blend and, in most cases, should not require washing. In fact, the more you wear your scarf, the softer it gets as the cashmere oxidizes and takes on the natural oils from your skin. This is the beauty of this carefully sourced Italian fabric. It freshens up in no time by hanging in an area with good air flow for a few hours. Simple as that. If you must clean it due to spills etc., either spot clean with water without rubbing or wringing, dry clean, or dip and rinse the entire scarf with a gentle detergent made for delicate fabric. Do not wring. Lay flat to dry. You may gently iron/press or steam your Lolili scarf before storing or hanging.

2.    Store your scarves by season.

Although most Lolili fine art scarves are multi seasonal, you may choose to organize them in order of colour or pattern and put the most current choices in the most accessible areas. You may prefer baskets and boxes over racks or hooks for this purpose which will allow for easy rotation and positioning in your closet or drawers. The choice is yours. This will be covered in an upcoming post.

3.    Store out of direct sunlight.

Lolili scarves are wearable fine art and, although you may want to display them, treat them with care. Like any other fabric, they can become streaked or faded if left in the sun for extended periods of time. When you are not wearing your scarves, keep them in a dry, cool place. If you are using a rack or hooks to display your scarves as wall art, and we highly recommend you do, just be sure to protect them from direct sunlight.

Hang Stack or Fold?

Approaches to organizing our scarves can be as unique as our personalities and as varied as the scarves we own. How you choose to store or display your scarves, whether in baskets, bins, drawers or boxes or to hang them in closets or on your walls, keeping them organized will make your wardrobe choices easy and fun.
