The Best Way to Store Scarves in Drawers

In continuing with the theme of how to store your scarf collection, drawers are a practical solution.

1.    Make room for your scarves

If you have a large collection of scarves, dedicate one of your dresser drawers to them instead of interspersing them with other items in your closet. To create a special space, rearrange or purge unused items that are cluttering up your drawers freeing up at least one drawer for this project. Your scarves are worth it.

2.    Invest in drawer dividers

Take your organization to the next level. Search your favourite housewares shop or the internet for dividers that fit neatly into the space. These can be wooden, plastic, or fabric covered dividers. This way your scarves will be neatly and safely hidden away until you're ready to wear them. It is important to make sure the dividers edges are smooth with nothing that will snag delicate items.

 3.   Take the time to fold or roll

Fold or roll your scarves neatly using a uniform method and arrange them based on what layout works best for you. You can also sort by colour, season, fabric, or occasion. Folding them properly when you put them away, makes it easy to grab and go without worrying about excessive wrinkles or bunching.

Lolili scarves come with a see-through organza travel bag. These make it easy to keep the scarf safe and to simply select from your drawer and place in your luggage, purse, or carryon.

 4.   Get creative

Do you have some extra PVC pipes handy? If not, you can get this inexpensive material from your local hardware store. Cut the pipe into equal lengths so that when standing vertically, the pieces will be just a bit lower than the height of the drawer. Be careful to sand down all the edges carefully to avoid any sharp slivers or rough areas that may snag delicate scarves. Run a cotton ball over all the edges to test for snags. When laid out, these create individual compartments become excellent scarf holders for rolled scarves. Most standard-sized drawers can hold up to twenty-four of these perfect little organizers depending on the size of the pipe you choose. This is also a great trick for ties and other accessories as well. Check out other interesting ideas by doing a Pinterest search.

 5.   If you don’t have a dresser or available drawers

If you have room in your closet or under a piece of furniture, seek out a free-standing drawer unit that will give you ample room to organize your scarves for easy access. Depending on the size and material this can also serve as a separate stand for other items.

 In conclusion:

As always, the best way to store your scarves is whatever way works for you…as long as you have a system. I encourage you to explore the internet or your favourite storage solutions shops for ideas. You may even choose a combination of methods to suit your needs. You will be surprised how easy it is to simplify your collection and make an instant scarf selection from your closet a breeze.
